It is the most successful and popular soccer club in Corsica. Its main achievements includes a French Cup (1981), two French Ligue 2 titles (1968 - 2012), two French National titles (2011 - 2021), an Intertoto Cup (1997), and a "Trophée des Champions" (1972).

Also known for its epic UEFA Cup in 1977-1978, Bastia is one of seven French clubs to have played in a European final.

In the 2021-2022 football season, SC Bastia secured its place in the French second division championship (Ligue 2 BKT), climbing to a modest 12th place. The Corsican soccer club also did very well in the "Coupe de France", being eliminated in the quarter-finals by FC Nantes, the eventual winners of the competition. Régis Brouard's men are currently ranked 14th in the championship, with 5 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses in 15 games played.
